Police officers were called out on Wednesday morning following reports of a crash in Shanklin.
A silver van collided with a parked vehicle on Sandy Lane, and the driver of the van fled the scene.
Police carried out an area search and officers located the driver a short distance away.
The driver failed a drug test and was arrested and taken to Newport custody.
