Male Voice Choir cheque for charity

A very surprised Thea Grace Callaghan received a bursary cheque from Rod Riddell, Chairman of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir last Saturday, after Thea, a soprano, sang several pieces at the ‘Wight Night for Singing’ concert organised by the ladies of Cantobelle in aid of the Wight Brainy Bunch. Over £700 was raised.

The Choir prides itself on providing a platform for young Island musicians and singers to develop their talents and to perform in public. A long standing member of the choir, who was also Musical Director and Conductor, Bassett Stevens left a bequest providing the funds for this bursary to be presented every year.
