Lorry tips on the outskirts of Newport

One lane of the busy Staplers Road, on the outskirts of Newport, remains blocked after a Hiab lorry, carrying bags of ballast to the Island Riding centre, toppled onto its side.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are conducting a traffic control operation to allow vehicles to pass the scene. The incident happened just before 10 am on Friday morning (December 21).

No-one is understood to have been injured as a result of the incident. The operator, however, is said to be in a state of shock.
