By Isle of Wight ObserverThere have been a spate of thefts from cars and garages in Lake and Sandown in the period between Christmas and the New Year.
A number of garages were broken into at the bottom of Perowne Way on Saturday (December 29), and thieves were disturbed when attempting to break into the same garages the following night (Sunday, December 30).
Meanwhile, a car parked in a driveway was broken into on Lake Green Road, although fortunately nothing of value was stolen. A second vehicle was broken into in Station Avenue the breaking was captured on CCTV. The distressed owner has stated that a number of items were stolen from her vehicle.
Drivers are advised to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times, as it appears a thief has been trying to open the doors of a number of parked cars in the area. Anyone with information or who has fallen victim is asked to report the matters to Hampshire Constabulary on 101.
