IW Scurry will take place next Sunday
1 min read
The popular Isle of Wight Grand National & Ashey Scurry returns next Sunday (October 8), and will doubtless bring out the Island’s rural community to enjoy one of their traditional days out.
Entries are going well for the races, with the popular Puffing Billy Stakes already full, but there is still the chance to take part in the other four races, including the Isle of Wight Grand National itself.
The Shetland racing has quickly become a firm favourite at the event. There will be three races for the 27 pint-sized equines, and their riders including their own Grand National and Gold Cup.
There will be a well-stocked Goddards bar, hot and cold food, and the popular sweepstake for those who fancy a little flutter.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, and why not join the many families that enjoy a picnic at the event?
Gates will open at West Ashey Farm at 10.30am, with the first runners setting off at midday. There is also still space for stands for anyone who would like to exhibit at the event. Just email isleofwightscurry@gmail.com for details.
