Isle of Wight aims high for next Armed Forces Day

Following the resounding success of this year’s Armed Forces Day celebrations, the Isle of Wight is planning to bid for the honour of hosting the National Event.

Now in its third year, the Island’s Armed Forces Day has grown into a major occasion, drawing thousands to Ryde seafront. With Red Arrows flypasts, parachute displays, and an exciting programme of land, sea and air attractions, organisers estimate nearly 10,000 people lined the sands to show their support.

At the heart of the event is a simple but powerful message: “Thank you”. The Island is home to around 16,000 members of the armed forces community, and the day brings generations together in shared respect and celebration.

Ian Dore, who leads the organisation for the event, confirmed exclusively to the IW Observer, the official media partner for the day, that a bid for the National Event is now planned. The team behind the event is ready to aim high.
