By Isle of Wight ObserverVentnor RFC has announced the Inaugural Martin Poynter Cup in memory of a popular firefighter who passed away at the age of just 49 following a stroke.
Ed Blake, Hon Chairman of Ventnor RFC said “The charity fundraising day is in honour of former Isle of Wight fireman and Ventnor RFC player, Martin Poynter who sadly died well before his time a couple of years ago. The highlight of which will be a match between Ventnor RFC and an Emergency Services team.”
Money raised will be going to The Martin Poynter Trust which supports The Stroke Association on the Isle of Wight.
