Hospital charity has something to sing about

The 50-Strong Melodic Choir has sung its way to a very welcome £1,112 contribution to the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital as a result of three of its latest Island concerts.

The money came from events at the Medina Theatre, Arreton Barns and the Bargemen’s Rest, and was presented to the Friends by Kay De’Lacy Melodic’s Choir Leader and Vocal Coach, at Gurnard Pines where the choir practices.

Kay said, “Over the last four years we have raised approximately £7,000 for good causes on the Island. I thought we would like to support our own hospital this time, in recognition of the great work of all the staff and volunteers.”

Receiving the money, Chairman of the Friends, Lesley Myland, said it would be used to buy special radios for the hospital’s dementia patients, enabling them to listen to music from the past, provided on memory sticks by relatives and friends.
