Horns sounding and clapping for carers

A fleet of lorries from Island-based George Jenkins Transport paraded past St Mary’s Hospital last evening (Thurs) as part of the ‘clap for carers’ tributes for NHS staff and key workers.

The lorries travelled in convoy for the company’s HQ near Apse Heath, and then made their way to Newport before passing the hospital several times, with their lights flashing and horns sounding. One of the company’s trailers was painted in bright colours, with the words ‘Help Support NHS and Key Workers’.

Some hospital staff members stood outside the main St Mary’s entrance to join in the clapping in appreciation of the support they have been receiving Islandwide.

The firm has also set up a Just Giving page for people to support the NHS – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/georgejenkinscovid19
