Dover Park Primary School recently hosted an exciting ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’-style competition as part of their ongoing Healthy Eating Drive. Head teacher, Jon Kirby, and deputy headteacher, Hayley Roberts, battle it out in a friendly culinary competition.
Year 6 pupils judged the cooking, and Mrs Roberts emerged victorious with her omelette, while Mr Kirby was the runner-up with his savoury pancakes and cheese sauce.
“We’re really passionate about educating children about healthy eating and instilling the fun of cooking. This was an exciting and fun way to introduce the initiative in school,” said the head teacher.
This competition was part of the school’s PEACH programme (Partnership for Education, Attainment & Children’s Health), which supports schools in improving the health and well-being of their pupils, staff and families. In addition to the cooking competition, the project has included food workshops for children and parents, cookery clubs and family cooking sessions, to help promote this important message.
