Free hypnotherapy to help ease burden of cancer

Islanders affected by cancer will now be able to access free hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) sessions through Wessex Cancer Trust.

The charity’s Island branch has teamed up with expert practitioner Maire Reeves to offer the new sessions from its centre in Lugley Street, Newport.

With 36 years’ experience in education and therapy, Maire is also a qualified NLP Trainer and Master Practitioner, and a hypnotherapist.

Maire has 36 years experience in education and therapy and is a qualified NLP Trainer

She said: “NLP and hypnotherapy can help people elicit a positive state of mind and gain
confidence. Phobias and anxieties can be treated and these treatment options can create a
better understanding of relationships, especially when someone is facing or recovering from an illness like cancer – or, indeed, caring for someone in this situation”.

The link up came about after Maire used the charity’s services herself, while undergoing treatment for cancer.

The new sessions will run alongside the charity’s existing free services, which include
counselling, befriending and complementary therapies, such as reflexology.

To book a session with Maire or want to find out more about the services offered, please call 524186 or e-mail isleofwight@wessexcancer.org.uk.
