Ryde Academy student Arthur Attrill has achieved the biggest win of his tennis career to date, by winning the 12 & Under Regional Tour event, thereby qualifying for the forthcoming National tournament in December.
The talented 11 year-old won the regional qualifying event in Southampton against the top 12 & Under players from across the SW of England, beating the No.1 and 2 seeds on his way to victory.
Arthur, who lives at St Helens, is currently ranked the No.1 player for his age in Hampshire/IW and has qualified to play in the National tournament at Bolton Arena in December as one of the top 48 ranked 12 & Under boys in Great Britain.
He trains at Ryde Lawn Tennis Club and is supported by Wightlink through the IW Council Talented Athlete Scheme.
Keith Greenfield, Wightlink CEO, says: “We are continually amazed by the dedication and talent of the sportsmen and women we support through the Talented Athlete scheme and are thrilled for Arthur who has worked so hard to reach this level”.
