Football fundraiser supports men’s mental health

Football fundraiser at Watcombe Bottom

Julie Squires and Ventnor football club organised a fun-filled fund-raising football match at Watcombe Bottom, with a barbecue and bouncy castle.

Past and present Ventnor players took part in a friendly fixture, with proceeds going to Ventnor charity Better Days, providing support for men’s mental health.

The charity recently opened a shop, which Kirsty Chapman described as: “An Aladdin’s cave, full of pre-loved household furniture, sofas, chests of drawers, tools and all sorts of treasures including clothes, tools, just about anything and everything, to raise some funds for the Better Days Café.”

As a community hub, Better Days offers a drop-in mental health and sign-posting service, with workshops for adults and teenagers, as well as skills development, interviewing skills and CV advice.
