Island High Sheriff, Mrs Caroline Peel, presented Shanklin Town Mayor, Steve Knight, with the prestigious National Loo of the Year Award at a recent presentation at Falcon Cross, Shanklin.

Cllr Knight said: “Shanklin has invested in state of the art toilets in the town, and the response from visitors and residents has been tremendous, and we are looking to invest in Chine Bluff, as the next project, if we can.”

Mrs Peel added: “Shanklin, like other towns on the Island, are investing in public amenities, like toilets and libraries, and making them assets for their communities, and this national award highlights this.”

Shanklin have recently completed the Community Library Project, and are nearing completion of the Town Office initiative, and have also invested in Covid compliant projects to maintain much needed local services.

Steve concluded: “I’d like to thank all involved for making all of our recent projects the success that they have been, and to receive this national award just highlights the high standards to which we continually aspire.”
