Fire investigation team to arrive at Tarvic 2 ‘this morning’

Following the fire at the Tarvic 2 and St Moritz hotels in Sandown on Sunday (September 2), the Isle of Wight Council has issued the following update:

A spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two appliances from Newport Fire Station, including the aerial appliance, have returned to the scene this morning (September 3) to carry out site checks.

“A full investigation into the incident will be carried out, with a fire investigation team due to arrive on site this morning.”

The fire is believed to have started in between the two hotels and then spread to both buildings at around 11am on September 2.

Around 50 Firefighters tackled the blaze with support from Hampshire Fire and Rescue and South Central Coast Ambulance Service, police and the Ambulance Service.

No one was injured.
