Festival of Folk and Blues comes to Wolverton

A day-long Festival of Folk and Blues, set in the stunning grounds of Wolverton Manor, Shorwell, takes place tomorrow (Saturday), between 11.30am-8pm.

From its successful launch in 2011, the family-friendly festival raises funds to support cancer care for teenagers and young adults and Brighstone Primary School.

The festival has become a firm fixture on the Island’s event calendar, with fantastic bands and artists each year along with locally-produced food, children’s activities, tea tent and Real Ale tent.

Special guest artists at Wolverton Folk & Blues this year include Europe’s number one Blues Harp and front man, Steve ‘West’ Weston, and his band, The Bluesonics, Cornish and Welsh rising folk stars Piskey Led and UK Blues award-nominated Stompin’ Dave Electric Band.

As well as the Main Stage, the popular Beer Tent Acoustic Stage will make a welcome return, providing a full and varied programme, featuring some of the best folk and blues musicians from the Island.

Other bands and artists confirmed include: The Hanging Baskets; Damien Paul Band; Something About Mondays; The Bohemians; Chasing Scarlett; The Ohmz; East Cowes Shanty; Lee Signey AKA The Infamous Rooster Fish; RazorJake; The RUG Band; Hugh Wright sings Bob Dylan; Ruby and Moonshine Border Morris.

Tickets, £12 (with children 12 and under, free) available from: Waterstones Bookshop, Newport; The Village Shop, Brighstone; Briddlesford Lodge Farm Shop, Wootton Bridge; Brighstone School; Orchard Brothers, Freshwater Bay. Or on the gate at £15.
