The Coastguard rescue helicopter, Rescue 175, has been called onto the Isle of Wight to carry out a life-saving transfer from St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. At around 11 pm on Sunday evening, the helicopter circled over Newport before landing at the helipad on the grounds of St Mary’s hospital.
A seriously ill cardiac patient was then carried into the helicopter for transfer to the Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth.
