Two Island care-workers reached the shortlist in the first national Palliative & End of Care Awards, at the Marriott Hotel, Regent Street, London, recently.
Micha Legaspi, from Newport, was shortlisted for the Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing Award, while Leah Wherry, from Totland, represented her team which was shortlisted for The Best Fund-raiser Award. Both work at Solent Grange nursing home.
The awards were hosted by celebrity guests, Kate Garraway and Neev Spencer, and Leah and Micha got to share a table with them for the evening. Leah said: “As well as sitting with Kate and Neev, we got to do the conga with them, so it was a brilliant experience!”
