Bluebell House in Ventnor could provide three homes

A former residential home in Ventnor could be turned into three homes under plans submitted to the IW Council.

Bluebell House on Mitchell Avenue in Ventnor ceased trading in October 2022 due to a lack of staff availability. The current owners say they are disappointed that its continued use as a care home is not economically viable.

They have therefore submitted plans to convert the building, originally built in the late 1800s as two six-bedroomed houses, into three separate homes, with three, five and seven bedrooms. They intend to keep one themselves and sell or rent the two smaller homes, possibly for use as holiday lets. One of the apartments will be on the ground floor and step-free, therefore suitable for older people.

All the original features are to be maintained and the existing rendering will be repaired and painted a bluebell colour or alternatively returned to its original stonework.
