Air ambulance pulls woman from sea during Cowes Week

An air ambulance has rescued a female from the Solent.

Coast guards and ambulance crews have pulled a woman from the water on Monday (August 6) at around 5.30pm.

The swimmer has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital from Cowes.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “If you are in Cowes you may have seen some police activity down on the beach by Queen’s Road.

“We were called just before 5pm regarding concerns for the welfare of a woman in the water.

“Officers arrived and began treating the woman who had been helped out of the water.

“She has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

“Thanks to those who assisted our officers down on the beach.”
