3 emergency services go on the run for charity!

Three off-duty teams from the Isle of Wight’s emergency services have gone on the run for charity in a ‘Bluelight Breakout’.

Teams of pairs from the Police (Iain Lane & Tom Ramsay), Ambulance service (Lynsey Groves and Alasdair Hay) and the Fire Service (Mark Grimes and Ross Smallcombe) are planning to get as far away from the Island as possible in 50 hours.

They left the Isle of Wight Radio building at 10.00am yesterday morning without a penny in their pockets and will have to be inventive as well as persuasive to get off the Island and as far away as possible before the end of the challenge. They will need to beg, borrow and plead to use various forms of transport to beat the other teams and be named the winners.
However the real winners will be Island charity the Wight Brainy Bunch set up by Mark and Kathryn Grimes in 2015, after Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The charity provides a support network and financial assistance to local families affected by brain tumours.

The Breakout is sponsored by Novum Law, Maher Ross, DDC Electronics, and many other local businesses, whose support will make sure the teams can get home to their day jobs at the end of the challenge.
