Curtain Call Creative are performing 9 to 5 The Musical, at Shanklin Theatre next Wednesday and Thursday (Feb 15/16) at 7.30pm.
With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, based on the book by Patricia Resnick, is found on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.
Pushed to boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot!
While Hart remains ‘otherwise engaged’, the women give their work place a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
This high-energy show is following the highly acclaimed recent Curtain Call Creative productions of Bugsy Malone, Into the Woods, Alice in Wonderland and Made In Dagenham. This performance features some of the best local talent on the Island, with a cast all aged from 13 to 19 years of age. There is also a live band, stunning costumes and professional set design.
