Set sail for Riverfest

By Press Release May 19, 2023

The popular Riverfest event returns tomorrow (Saturday) to Newport Quay.

The fun and free community event has all the feel of a traditional village fete, with lots of free activities for children. Many local charities promote the work they do in the community, supporting people and protecting the local environment.

Riverfest was launched in 2008, by the IW Council, and taken over by energy-saving charity, The Footprint Trust, in 2010. It was passed over to the Newport Carnival & Community Events Association last year, when the after-effects of the Covid pandemic meant the Footprint Trust needed to concentrate on their core work.

The event has grown over the years to the biggest community event in Newport, attracting more than 4,000 visitors. It has raised many thousands of pounds for charities, promotes local businesses, gives a platform to young performers, and raised the profile of the importance of wetlands, water efficiency and the River Medina.

Join in all the free fun on Newport Quay from 10am to 4pm tomorrow.
