WightSAR joins search to help find missing Shanklin woman

Isle of Wight search and rescue volunteers have joined the search to find a missing vulnerable woman who discharged herself from the hospital yesterday.

WightSAR was called out to assist with the search at 6.45am this morning.

Police launched an appeal this morning asking people in the Newport area of the Isle of Wight to keep an eye out for missing Charlotte Burch. The 44-year-old, from Shanklin, went missing from St Mary’s Hospital, in Newport, yesterday afternoon (January 9).

She left before she was discharged so police and family members all growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Police spent the night looking for her and are now turning to the public for help.

Charlotte left on foot and was last seen wearing a black speckled cardigan, a pink top and green trousers, which were provided by the hospital, and black boots with a fur trim.

She is described as being white, 5ft 6ins tall, slim build with shoulder length brown hair and wears glasses.
