Wight Whizzers’ impressive debut in indoor cricket

Indoor Cricket’s Division Two and Three leagues started with Wight Whizzers winning in their first-ever indoor league match. Jerin Padavath hit 51, before Midhun Devassy bowled a triple-wicket maiden, including an impressive hat-trick. Jinu KP added 34 in Wight Whizzers’ 180, with Kieran Annis taking 3-28. Bakeries B were dismissed for just 24 in reply, Jinu with 2-8.

Cowes beat Arreton A, with Jez Robinson hitting an unbeaten 30, after Luke Ridoutt had earlier taken 2-28. Jack Powell top-scored with 26 as Arreton A posted 98-5. Robinson was supported well by Muditha Naresh (19*) in the chase, with Cowes winning by five wickets.

Ventnor C defeated IW Disability B, including Mahesh Kumar adding 26 and Charles Andrew 25* in Ventnor C’s 161-3. Disability B saw Oscar Le Neve Foster adding 17, but Disability B were dismissed for 100.

IW Health Associates overcame Porchfield. Porchfield posted 107-3 (Mark Oatley 26*, David Pratt 23* and Martyn Richards 22), but IWHA only lost one wicket in their chase.

Arreton B beat Shanklin & Godshill B in the tightest match of the evening. Arreton B posted 109-4, with Shanklin & Godshill B ending just short on 106 despite the best efforts of Luka Moreno (1-20 & 18).
