Last weekend saw West Wight wins in cup competitions, hat-tricks for Sandown’s Jimmy Golding, High Park’s John Robjant and Josh Parsons and Nathan Roberts of Oakfield, a Wessex win for East Cowes Vics, with Shanklin Ladies and Wight Eagles matches weather affected.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Cups
West Wight Reserves secured a memorable 4-1 win away at Sarisbury Sparks in the Hampshire Vase, with goals from the 3 ‘J’s’ – Jordan Flynn (2), Jason Moore and Jude Millar.
In the Junior B Cup, Callum Millar and Jordan Maloney scored in West Wight A’s 2-1 home win against Bembridge A to reach the semi-finals.
Osborne Coburg won 5-3 on penalties, away at Sandown & Lake A, after drawing 3-3 in normal time. Oli Brown, sub Phil Shuro and Tom Driscoll were on target for Sandown, with replies from Charlie Sharpe and Jason Pengelly.
Isle of Wight Divisions One and Two
Second-placed Whitecroft & Barton narrowed the gap at the top of Division One to 2 points, with 2 games in hand, with a 3-0 home win over Northwood. There was a first-half goal from Josh Appell, and 2 second-half strikes from skipper Harry Ovnik and Alex Wright.
Osborne Coburg secured a 2-1 home win against West Wight, with goals from Harry Green and sub Darren Wood. The consolation goal was provided by Josh Daley. Coburg’s keeper Joe Williams saved a Gareth Bricknell penalty and defender Alex Hatton cleared off the line.
In Division Two, a John Robjant hat-trick, 2 goals from Jenson Norman and and 1 from Kyle Kilroy inspired leaders High Park, now clear by 11 points, to a 6-2 away at 9-player Newport Res.
Pan won 5-0 at home to Seaview, with goals from Adam Drysdale (2), and 1 apiece from Kai Johnson, Tony Howard and Sammy Williams.
Nathan Roberts (4) and Josh Parsons (3), with 1 each from Jay Larbalestier, Ben Gardener, Jos Townsend, Gary Hills and Jamie Phillips, scored in Oakfield’s 12-1 away win at Newchurch, with Sean Smith on target for the visitors.
Combination Leagues
A Dan Drudge header, Ryan Hill finishing a slick passing move, and a second-half goal from Jack Mikoakyec secured Shanklin Res a 3-2 home win over Binstead COB Res. Jack Dyer and Zac Sullivan were on target for the Binmen in Combination One.
Second-placed Sandown & Lake Res won 5-1 against Ventnor Res, with a Jimmy Golding hat-trick, and goals from yellow-carded Luke Healy and sub Louis Day. Dan Verstraeten netted for the visitors.
Brading Town Res won 5-2 away at Northwood Res, with goals from Caleb Dyer, Alex Boirand, Will Johnson, Jack Williams and Luke Glynn.
In Combination Two, player-of-the-match Jack Dockrell inspired Vectis Res to win 5-2 at home to Ryde Saints Res, with goals from Cam Kayode, Jack White, Harry Furness, and Bubacarr Touray.
Wessex
Cowes lost 1-0 away at Blackfield & Langley in the Premier Division.
Fourth-placed East Cowes won 1-0 at home to Cove, with Josh Neale’s goal narrowing the gap to put them in third place in Division One.
Newport lost 3-1 away at Aldermaston, with Jez Conway getting the consolation goal.
Fixtures
In Wessex, Cowes travel to Baffin Milton Rovers, with East Cowes Vics home to Aldermaston and Newport away at Totton and Eling.
Cup competitions include Vectis at home to Ringwood Town in the Hants Trophy.
In the Hants Vase, Sandown & Lake Res are home to Emsworth Town, and West Wight Res host Bournemouth Electric.
High Park entertain East Cowes Sports, with W&B at home to Ventnor in the Memorial Cup.
In the Junior B Cup, Oakfield Res face Ventnor A.
IW Division One Cowes Sports Res are home to Binstead Cob, and Osborne Coburg welcome Brading.
Division Two’s Niton entertain Oakfield, Pan are at home to Newchurch, with Sandown & Lake entertaining Ryde Saints.
