Warning to residents after two males act suspiciously in Sandown

Residents on the Isle of Wight are being warned to keep an eye out for opportunist thieves after one Sandown resident witnessed a number of males “trying to break into a property” on Fairview Crescent.

A warning of the attempted break-in was published on social media on Wednesday (August 15) and was shared to a number of local community groups and pages.

A spokesman for Hampshire and Isle of Wight police said: “Police received a report at 3.24am on August 15 of a suspicious incident in Fairview Crescent, Sandown.

The warning was shared on Social Media

“Two people wearing hoodies had accessed the garden of a house, but left the area when confronted by a resident.”

“Nothing has been reported stolen and no damage was caused to any property.”

Residents are advised to keep back gates to their property secure and make sure doors are kept locked.
