Mountbatten has hit back after an anonymous poster, which appeared in various sites on the Island, questioned whether all funds raised from Walk the Wight are donated to the Island’s hospice.
The poster says: “Walk the Wight: Does the money raised for Mountbatten go to Mountbatten, Isle of Wight. Or does it go to Mountbatten’s expansion into Hampshire? Think about it.”
The IW Observer has received anonymous letters in the past making similar allegations.
However, a Mountbatten spokesman said: “We are aware of a number of posters that have been anonymously displayed, wrongly suggesting money raised at Walk the Wight goes to our hospice on the mainland, Mountbatten Hampshire.
“The posters provide a great opportunity for us to restate and reinforce the fact all money raised for Mountbatten Isle of Wight, through Walk the Wight and all other local fund-raising activity, only supports our work on the Island.
“It always has and always will, and we have consistently been very clear about this.
“Our accounts are also very clear, but we invite anyone who would like to discuss it further, or to talk through any other issues causing concern, to get in touch with our CEO, Nigel Hartley, via nigel.hartley@mountbatten.org.uk.”
