Ventnor’s Blenheim pub to close as rising costs and repair bills bite

The Blenheim, in Ventor High Street, is the latest pub to fall victim to rising costs and building repairs.

The management confirmed this week it will cease trading on Monday, March 16, saying it was an “incredibly difficult decision”.

A statement said: “This is not the outcome we had hoped for. Due to the ongoing challenges of rising costs and significant building repairs, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close for the foreseeable future.

“We are so proud of what we have built here and of the amazing community that has supported us every step of the way. The friendships, the laughter, the live music, the match days and the memories made within these walls will always mean the world to us.”

The statement also thanked “the wonderful staff who have given so much heart” to the pub.
