Ventnor sign receives a much needed spruce up

Ventnor’s iconic sign on the cliffs at La Falaise is looking good after a town councillor rolled up his sleeves.

Cllr Mark Jefferies, who is also the town’s deputy mayor, decided to take action after residents complained to him that the sign, designed to be visible from the sea, was looking overgrown and tired.

He reported the issue to the Ventnor Town Council office, who called in contractor, John O’Connor, who strimmed the area to cut back overgrown grass and weeds. Mark, who is a painter and decorator by trade decided to tackle the painting himself. He said: “After two very early mornings, the sign was completed and looks good. It is again highly visible from a long way off shore.

“Special thanks go to John O’Connor’s operatives, and Racheal, from the town council office.”
