Ventnor doctors’ surgery runs out flu jab during drop in session

A Ventnor doctors’ surgery has ran out of the flu vaccine for the over 65s during a drop in clinic session.

Grove House Surgery in Albert Street will not have the vaccination until November 28 when another drop in session is planned.

The practice manager, Mike Jukes, said it was the first time this had ever happened and it was due to a fault with their suppliers.

A member of the practice who did not wish to be named said people had travelled together in minibuses to get their vaccination only to be told there wasn’t any left.

They said: “People have to wait until the end of November, but by that time, it’ll probably be too late as they’ll have the flu.”

Mr Jukes said: “We ran out of the flu vaccination by 10am for the over 65s. We will have supplies by November 28 for the next planned drop in session. These dates are set by clinical staff, I am administrative staff and therefore cannot make clinical decisions or comment on them.”
