Two car collision closes Godshill High Street

Emergency services were called to reports of a two vehicle collision in Godshill on Tuesday morning (December 11).

Fire crews from Newport and retained crews from Shanklin arrived first at the scene on Godshill High Street just after 9.30am.

Three ambulances and a number of police officers also attended scene near to the Griffin Pub.

The road was closed by fire crews and local diversions were put in place whilst the vehicles were recovered.

Southern Vectis posted an update on Twitter, saying: “We are getting reports of a RTI at Godshill near the Griffin Pub. Details are sketchy at the moment but some delays are likely to Routes 2 & 3 #travelalert“.

UPDATE 10:04 Emergency service have the incident under control and traffic is now flowing without significant delays. A woman was taken to hospital for further checks.
