The historic Totland Pier has gone up for for sale

The historic Totland Pier, which was set to boast a café and a top-quality bar and restaurant, is on the market for £3.5million.

The Wooldridge Group, who previously leased the pier, had planned to open ‘The Pier, by Seasons’ restaurant in May 2024, but that development never materialised.

The Bay Café, at the shore end of the pier, opened on two occasions before closing and an application was made to turn it turn it into holiday lets, which was refused.

Now, the 140-metre (460 ft) structure, which was completed in 1880 but fell into disrepair before undergoing a multi-million-pound renovation around five years ago, is on the market with Spence Willard. The estate agent describes the pier as: “A unique opportunity to purchase an impressive, redeveloped freehold pier business, located in one of the most attractive bays in the country, with a new bistro and planning permission for a restaurant on the pier end.

“Alternatively, the space on the pier end also benefits from extant planning consent for conversion into a residential holiday home, offering an attractive lifestyle or investment option.”

The IW Observer contacted the owners Totland Pier Ltd, who declined to comment.
