West Wight Swimming Club made a splash at the start of the new season, fielding their biggest mainland team to date at the City of Southampton Swimming Club James Moreno Open Meet on October 17 & 18.
Ten swimmers competed across two days, producing an impressive 36 personal bests, 13 new times in events they had never raced before, five medals, and one county qualifying time.
But for the coaching team, the biggest success went beyond the results. A spokesman said the young squad showed a real step forward in confidence and maturity, earning compliments from other teams and members of the public for the way they conducted themselves, and supported one another throughout the weekend.
The team is currently running a raffle to raise funds, with tickets available from West Wight Sports & Community Centre.
After a positive start, West Wight Swimming Club are looking forward to a busy season ahead
