‘Swap shop’ for school uniforms
1 min read
Aspire Ryde, in conjunction with Ryde Town Council, will be hosting a uniform ‘swap shop’ at the Aspire Ryde Community Hub (ARCH) on Thursday, November 2 until Saturday, November 4, from 10am to 4pm.
They are asking for old school uniform items to be donated prior to the event. This includes school sweatshirts, trousers, skirts, polo shirts, shirts, shoes, ties, blazers, school bags, sports kit and trainers, but excludes underwear and socks. Items can be dropped off at the ARCH shop, located on Ryde High Street (opposite the new Poundland store) whenever it is open.
In addition this year, Christmas jumpers can also be swapped for any size and any age, including for adults.
People looking to swap on the day can arrive with any donations they may have and, hopefully, find something suitable to take away.
Organiser, Alison Pearce said: “In August, we had people doing swaps for bigger sizes of uniform for their children as well as some donating because their child had finished at the school. It was a great way of recycling uniforms, which was often barely worn.
“We’ve got the added extra of swapping Christmas jumpers ready for Christmas jumper day in December. Please bring down last year’s jumper and exchange it ready for this year’s event.”
