Eight people took part in a shave, haircut and waxing charity event at the Ocean View Hotel, Shanklin, on Saturday.
Nearly £2,000 – and a lot of hair – was raised, with the money split between the IW Women’s Refuge and Breast Cancer Now, and the hair donated to the Little Princess Trust.
The event was organised by Peter May from To Be In Her Shoes, a prodigious fund-raiser for charities for women who have been abused, and Sarah Tyrrell Jones of Breast Cancer Now.
Peter said: “It was a great night and great fun. I dressed up as Eddie Izzard and went for a full legs wax, which was an experience!
“Others, like Cerys Leyman, had her first haircut in 16 years, the last time being when she was 18, while Paul Janes went for a head and beard shave.
“We were really pleased with the amount we raised, so a huge thanks to everyone who took part and to the Ocean View Hotel who donated their premises free of charge.”
Other de-fuzzed fund-raisers were: Hana-Marie Elizabeth (hair), Amanda Janes (leg wax), Kevin Bargery (beard), Gaz Bloomfield (chest wax), and Craig Tyrrell Jones (chest wax and beard shave).
Hairdressers were Julie Wallis and Maria from Wallis@25 in Sandown, and waxer was Anita Howes from Vanity IW.
