Students’ dream trip to Big Apple

Lucky senior students from Theatretrain Isle of Wight had the trip of a lifetime, travelling to New York with other Theatretrain centres from across the UK.

The 10 students were treated to a fun packed few days in the ‘Big Apple’, visiting landmarks, watching shows and attending workshops before entertaining hundreds of tourists at The Empire State building.

As part of the trip they attended two workshops on Broadway, working with cast members from Beetlejuice and singing coaches, preparing them for their performance at the Empire State Building later on in the week.

The students were part of a 30-minute set, with Isle of Wight students Millie Lake and Sophia Houghton also performing solo, and Ben Thompson commended by the course director for his dancing talents.

An Empire State event organiser said “We see many performers at this venue but this was the best performance by a young cast that we have had the pleasure of witnessing.”

Julie Caudle Centre director for Theatretrain on the Isle of Wight said: “I was delighted to be able to accompany them on this trip that was truly an experience of a lifetime. Here at Theatretrain we are a ‘performance company’ providing singing, dance and drama classes for 4 to 18 year olds, and I am incredibly proud of all our students talents. We aim to provide a variety of experiences and workshops for our youngsters so they can shine like the stars that they are”

If you’d like to see them perform be sure to get your tickets for Cinderella at Medina Theatre in December.
