Specialist Fire Investigation Officers probe Cowes motorboat fire

Specialist Scenes of Crime Officers and Forensic Fire Investigators from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have spent the day probing the remains of a ten-foot motor cruiser destroyed in a fire at Cowes Yacht Haven in the early hours of Monday morning (January 14).

A teenager has been airlifted to a hospital in Swansea for life-saving skin grafts. Two trauma doctors from the Isle of Wight, who worked alongside coastguard paramedics in the air ambulance while the teenager was being treated, have now re-appeared at the scene of the fire.

Uniformed Scene of Crime Officers remain on guard at the cordoned off area.

Scene of Crime Officers are believed to be paying particular attention to the rear of the motor cruiser. Investigators are also looking into the cause of the rapid spread of the fire, that also damaged a nearby sun-seeker vessel.
