Shanklin’s seasonal success!

Shanklin are celebrating their success in the South East England In Bloom Annual Awards, receiving a Coastal Community Award and a Silver Gilt Award.

Shanklin Mayor, Steve Knight said: “This award is a credit to all involved in making the Town such an attractive place for visitors and residents alike.”

The Judges highlighted the contribution made by Shanklin Green Town Volunteers, the work of Shanklin in Bloom, partnerships with local schools and youth centre, as well highlighting Shanklin Bowling Club, Shanklin Chine, War Memorial, Tower Cottage, Rylstone Gardens, Local Churches, British Legion and other features.

Shanklin Mayoress Esther Knight added: “It was good to see so many Island Towns and Parishes, as well as businesses, represented at the Regional Awards Ceremony – and Shanklin’s efforts were really appreciated by all at the event.”

Steve concluded: “The Town continues to punch above its weight regionally and nationally, and this award further reflects the investment made by the Town Council in partnership with our local Community – this recognition is a credit to all involved.”
