The rousing harmonies of the Sea Gels Shanty Band travelled across the water last weekend, making their mark on the Harwich International Sea Shanty Festival, where they gave six performances over three days.
The local favourites, known across the Island for their quirky sets and infectious maritime spirit, played to standing-room-only crowds. From intimate pubs to larger venues, they entertained with their vibrant mix of traditional shanties and songs of the sea, encouraging audiences to sing along.
Organisers and fans praised the band for helping to raise vital funds not only for the festival itself but also for the RNLI, a cause close to the band’s heart. “This was our first year and we loved it,” a band member shared.
