The Island Men’s 1st XI continue their run of good form with a 5-0 away win over Gosport Borough, with 2 penalty corners for the green-carded Adam Payne, and 2 field goals from Antonio Ferreira, adding to Finn Woodford’s opening goal. The win sees the Island side top Division Two South, above Havant.
Division One South leaders, IW Women’s 1st XI, won 1-0 away at Andover, in an end-to-end battle. The defence of Emily Lord, Phoebe Heng, Hannah Pocock and Claire Caddick was solid, with Jaimie Payne and Polly Rider always offering an out-ball. The ever-reliable Evie Fairhurst scored the all important goal. After the break Mia Lawrence, Sophie Parkhouse, Lizzie Dodds, and a green-carded Jess Glover countered every Andover move, with player-of-the-match Emma Bruce keeping a clean sheet in goal.
Three goals for Kensei Parker, and a player-of-the-match performance, from defender, Toby Noyes, saw the Island Men’s 2nd XI win 6-3 at home to Alton. Peter McClelland scores the Islander’s 5th to cap a hard-working display, and help secure 4th place for the side in Division Six South.
Island Women’s 2nd XI led 2-0 after goals from Megan Bridger and Alice Aldridge-Snell, and will be disappointed to concede goals to a strong Winchester side in Solent Division Two.
