Scores of tractors have vacated Island fields and taken to the roads in aid of
charity.
This year, as many as forty tractors – vintage and modern – joined the Isle of
Wight tractor ride out.

The convoy started its stately progress at the Eight Bells in Carisbrooke at
10.30 am on December 27, then wound its way through West Wight country
lanes – taking in Porchfield, Calbourne, Gatcombe and Brook – before finally
ending its journey at Whale Chine.
So, if you happened to have got stuck behind a convoy of tractors in West
Wight on Thursday, please bear in mind that it was all in aid of a good cause. This year’s charities being supported by the tractor ride out are the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Alzheimer’s Cafe in Newport.
