Ryde Rowing Club held its annual presentation of awards on Saturday, with more than 80 members and guests attending the event at the Appley Park clubhouse. A review of the season highlighted the Women’s Coastal Junior Four, who secured six Hants & Dorset ARA wins, and the Club Open Junior Senior Four, who recorded three victories. Both crews earned representative honours for the Association at September’s South Coast Championships in Plymouth, where the women also secured the Hants & Dorset ARA Coastal Women’s Championship title.
Awards were then presented, beginning with the traditional “First H&D ARA Rowing Win for Club” spoons, awarded to Eva Gordon and Fiona Owen. Fiona also received the First Year Oarslady Award, while Eva was named Best First Year Open Rower. The Coxswain’s Cup was shared by Harry Watts and Ruby Reid.
The Oarslady of the Year Trophy went to Abi Locke, with the Best Open Rower award presented to Charlie Watts. The Coach’s Cup went to Graham Reeve, and the Committee Cup to Maggie Sanderson. The Cadet Reps Trophy went to Demi Cranham-Ede, and the Captain’s Cup was awarded to Sam Woodman in recognition of his many years of support for the club.
