Vectis Academy shines at Gosport half-marathon

Vectis Academy enjoyed an impressive day at the Gosport half-marathon, with Joshua Price securing third place in a strong field. The result strengthens his position at the top of the Hampshire Road Race League individual standings, following his win at the New Forest 10 Mile race in October.

The Gosport half-marathon marking its 40th anniversary, attracted around 1,600 entrants, and is well known for its fast, flat coastal course.

Runners completed two laps, starting and finishing on Browndown Road, with long stretches on the Lee-on-the-Solent promenade offering clear views across to the Isle of Wight. Conditions were favourable, with cool temperatures, light north-easterly winds, and dry skies, helping many athletes chase quick times.

The race is a key fixture in the Hampshire Road Race League, and consistently draws top talent. Josh’s third-place highlighted his consistency and growing strength as he builds momentum for the remainder of the season.

Vectis Academy also celebrated a full set of personal bests, with every club member delivering their fastest half-marathon times on the quick coastal route.

Finishing times were: Joshua Price – 1h 9m 58s; Christopher Till -1h 19m 3s; Matt Wiper -1h 34m 33s; Alisha Hutchinson – 1h 34m 47s; Becky Stiles – 1h 42m 42s and Gabriella Hewitt – 1h 52m 7s.
