Recital’s raise money for Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat

Edna, Mark and pianist Tom

Lake residents celebrated recent fund-raising recitals by pianist, Tom Nuckley, with a cheque presentation from Lake Methodist Church’s Edna Morris to Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat (SSIL) coxswain, Mark Birch.

The presentation also included the award of a £2,000 grant, through Lake Parish Council, to maintain the weekly Warm Space provision at Lake Methodist Church.

Edna said: “The church and local community thank Tom for his programme of recitals, which help our support of Mark and the lifeboat crew, and with providing activities like Warm Spaces. We continue to be at the heart of the Lake community.”

Lake Parish Council chairman, Cllr Paul Brading, said: “Lake is fortunate to have dedicated individuals and groups, like the church and SSIL, that put service before self, and I’d like to thank all of the volunteers for what has been achieved.”

Edna, Mark and Paul also unveiled a D-Day 80 plaque, next to the commemorative rose, planted to recognise the events of 1944.
