Proposed name change for Calbourne Parish Council
1 min readResidents are being invited to give their views on a proposed new name for Calbourne Parish Council.
The Isle of Wight Council has received a request asking to officially change it to Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield Parish Council.
While it’s already commonly known as Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield, the Isle of Wight Council can only formally adopt the new name following a consultation.
If implemented, the new title would not affect any other aspect of the running of Calbourne Parish Council and all existing wards and elected members would remain as they are.
Newport Parish Council was recently changed to Newport and Carisbrooke Parish Council following a similar process.
The Isle of Wight Council has launched a two-week consultation starting today (Monday, 21 January) and closing on Monday, 4 February.
Residents can comment on the proposed change in the following ways:
- Via the Isle of Wight Council website at https://www.iow.gov.uk/Council/OtherServices/Electoral-Registration/Consultation-on-Newport-Parish-Council-Name-Change/
- In writing to: Electoral Services, Isle of Wight Council, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD
Calbourne Parish Council currently has six elected members.
