Portsea woman pleads not guilty to hotel arson charges

The pike of hotel waste left outside the hotel

A female from Portsea charged with the arson of two Sandown hotels has entered not guilty pleas at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

Paula Skelly, 62, of Britain Street, Portsea, denies charges of arson after she allegedly flicked a lit cigarette, which landed in a pile of old chairs and other hotel waste, destroying both the Tarvic 2 and St Moritz hotels on Sandown seafront.

Skelly was given conditional bail. Her trial date is set for August 5.
