Police appeal to catch “hit-and-run” driver, who left number-plate behind

Police have appealed for people to come forward after a woman was left with severe whiplash injuries after a collision in Shanklin last Friday, in which the driver of the other vehicle involved failed to stop.

The collision occurred on Landguard Road at the junction with Falcon Cross Road in Shanklin at around 6.37 pm on December 28.

The collision was between two silver Ford Focus cars, one of which was being driven by a 55-year-old male, whose 25-year-old daughter was sat in the front passenger seat at the time.

According to police, the driver of the second vehicle failed to stop, then mounted a pavement and then drove off at speed.

A front number plate, with the registration number CP53 VAU, was left behind at the scene.
