IW Ladies 1st XI battled bravely and deserved more than a point in their 0-0 draw at home to 4th-placed Haslemere. They hit the post in the first half, with Pip Spibey delayed due to the ferry after a morning youth match. The Islanders’ defence was brave and battling.

Dani Devenish scored for the 2nd XI in their 1-0 away win at leaders, Havant, to retain 2nd spot in their push for promotion. It was a close encounter which saw the Islanders deliver a disciplined and well-drilled performance.

The Men’s 1st XI drew an end-to-end encounter 5-5 at home to Poole in South Central 1, with Adam Payne getting a hat-trick, and one apiece for Sam Challis and Aaron O’Hanlon-Hoare. The 2nd XI lost 3-0 away at Chichester Chipmunks.

The U-14 girls won 2-0 at home to Andover, with goals from Nicole Simpson and Jess Longston.

The U-14 boys won 11-0 at home to Chichester, with four goals for Arthur White, three for Peter McCelland, and one each for Nathan Phillips, Rupert King, Cian Smallwood-Butler and Cooper Woodford.

The U-12 girls rounded off a successful weekend for the younger sides with home wins against Havant and Fareham, with goals from Rafaella Jones.

Tomorrow (Saturday) IW Men’s 1st XI travel to Chichester, with the 2nd XI at home to Alton. The Ladies 1st XI are away at Fareham, and the 2nd XI are at home on Sunday, to 9th-placed Hamble.
