Plastic Mermaids reveal new UK live dates

The Isle of Wight’s Plastic Mermaids

Following their recent ‘1996’ single release, the Isle of Wight’s Plastic Mermaids have announced a live tour that will see them play four headline dates, sticking close to their roots along the South Coast.

Plastic Mermaids have previously sold-out every hometown show they have played on their native Isle Of Wight – including their self-promoted 700 people across 2-nights in a boat shed – simply because there weren’t any venues big enough for them on the Island.

The band’s love of The Flaming Lips is evident in their ecstatic live show, which has manifested itself into the sparkly-gold-cape-clad choir that has recently been accompanying Plastic Mermaids recent gigs, and a mannequin covered in mirror ball tiles that’s often  suspended above their stage set.

The five-piece band recently released their new psychedelic pop single ‘1996’ which was warmly received by fans and critics alike, with BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders supporting the record along with BBC6 Music’s Lauren Laverne and Chris Hawkins.

Tickets have now gone on sale for the shows at London’s Lexington on March 13, Brighton’s Prince Albert on March 14, Portsmouth Square Tower on March 15 and The Joiners in Southampton on March 16.
